I have been looking at the Drobo from Data Robotoics Inc. for almost a year now, waiting for it to hit the market, and for some improvements. Well, the improvements are here!
Some of the features are:
- Up to 4 SATA I or II drives (can mix or match)
- USB connectivity
- Constant Data protection
- Simple LED management
Plus, add on the DroboShare, to turn it into a NAS (Network Attached Storage)
- Gigabit Ethernet
- Automounting SMB shared via Drobo Dashboard
- Dual USB 2.0 ports for two Drobo’s per Droboshare
- EXT3 file system support
- Email alerts (in case drive fails etc)
All in all, this product looks great. The Drobo runs at $499 and the DroboShare is $199.
