I have been looking at the Drobo from Data Robotoics Inc. for almost a year now, waiting for it to hit the market, and for some improvements.  Well, the improvements are here! 

Some of the features are:

• Up to 4 SATA I or II drives (can mix or match)
• USB connectivity
• Constant Data protection
• Simple LED management

Plus, add on the DroboShare, to turn it into a NAS (Network Attached Storage)

• Gigabit Ethernet
• Automounting SMB shared via Drobo Dashboard
• Dual USB 2.0 ports for two Drobo’s per Droboshare
• EXT3 file system support
• Email alerts (in case drive fails etc)

All in all, this product looks great.  The Drobo runs at $499 and the DroboShare is $199.
