Windows 7 disables the AutoPlay feature which has been abused by malware (like Conficker). Now, Microsoft provides this same functionality for Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008.

Vista & Server 2008 Service Pack 2 released

Microsoft released Service Pack 2 today for Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista (all versions). With performance enhancements, and other bug fixes, this is a must have update. Make sure you have Service Pack 1 installed already, as it is a prerequisite.

Licensing Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008

Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 is a stand-alone product that will be available via the Microsoft Download Center free of charge.
Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 does not require CALs for the product itself.
CALs will be required for all Windows Server virtualized operating systems which are hosted on Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008.
Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 will be available in the following languages:
- English (EN-US)
- German (DE-DE)
- Japanese (JA-JP)
- French (FR-FR)
- Spanish (ES-ES)
- Chinese Hong-Kong (ZH-HK)
- Chinese Simplified (ZH-CN)

I told you back in Janurary about Microsoft giving away Server 2008, SQL server 2008, and Visual Studio 2008 at the lauch events.
Well, I went last week to the Launch in Charlotte NC, and it’s true!
Plus, as a bunus, they gave away a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate
(32bit) too!

The Launch was very informative, and I’m having fun playing around with Server 2008!

There is a time trial – as always, but here’s a trick: Keep the original files that you extract the image from. When your trial expires, you can extract again, and start over with out having to download again.
