I’m not a fan of Blackberry, but have to support them regardless. Troubleshooting them can be interesting sometimes, but there is one really easy function test to test if data is reaching the Blackberry Device.

Similar to the delivery receipt in Exchange, Blackberry devices have their own built in confirmation system. When sending to a blackberry, simply put in the subject line, followed by your original subject, or by itself.

If is sent by itself (nothing else in the subject, and nothing in the body of the message), the user will not see the message, but the device will still respond with the confirmation. This is very helpful when troubleshooting a device, verifying that data is reaching it’s destination correctly.

Ever had an email that you sent to a Blackberry user, and they said, “I never got it”? By using a neat little trick, you can tell if they are telling you the truth about that or not!

Similar to the delivery receipt in Exchange, Blackberry devices have their own built in confirmation system. Simply put <confirm> in the subject line, followed by your original subject.

You will receive an email back, if the device received the email, giving you proof that the message was delivered successfully. So next time you have to email a blackberry user, CYA…
